Be Global Translations’ Blog

To those of you who are starting…

To those of you who are starting...

Hello everyone! I am very happy you liked the last entry (you can check it here if you missed it). Today’s post is dedicated to all of you who are starting their careers as freelance translators. It is going to be a short, but an emotional one.

Not so long ago I was in the same place you are right now. I know it’s hard, sometimes you don’t see the point of doing this, working on your own… I know that it can be very frustrating at times.

That is why I want to write this entry, to give a little bit of extra support to those of you who are starting.

Telephone Interpreting and what it gives me.

telephone interpreting and what it gaves me

Hello everyone! I hope you had a good start of February! First of all, a massive thank you for the great reception my last entry had!

In the blog I have always talked about translation, sometimes focused on other topics such as business or marketing, but translation after all.

Today I want to talk about Interpreting, more specifically, about Telephone Interpreting and what gives me personally in return.

The importance of living abroad for a translator

The importance of living abroad for a translator

Hello everyone! I hope this January is not being so hard for all of you. As they say, “new year, new life”, maybe some of you are thinking about living abroad, maybe for a while, if you are studying, with the Erasmus scholarship, or if you have already finished your translation studies, maybe you want to live abroad to really get into the language and culture of one of your working languages.

In today’s post I am going to explain, based on my experience, the main reasons why it is important for a translator to live abroad. But also, I am going to give some tips to improve your language knowledge from home if you cannot afford living abroad.

4 reasons to translate your marketing materials

Hello everyone and Happy New Year! (It may be a bit late, but I haven’t post a blog since last year!)

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and good start of the year! And for those of you who live in Spain, I hope the Three Wise Men brought you a lot of presents!

One of the last entries was about New Year’s Proposals, and I am sure that many of you, who have a business, want to make those proposals real. Today I bring you a proposal for those of you who have an international business but do not translate their marketing materials.

THANK YOU, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

NYC

I want to make my last post of the year special. I know it is very typical to say this, but this 2015 has passed so quickly that I think I am still in April. I will remember this year as a very special one, challenging, motivating, scary, with ups and downs, but as the one I started my adventure in the United Kingdom as a freelance translator.

So, as you can imagine, this is not going to be the usual post, but a special one. I want to thank all the people that have supported me and cheer me up this year when I decided to try my freelance career in the United Kingdom. Those people, you know who you are 😉 I want to thank personally the person who made the logo and design for Be Global Translations: a very talented designer Virginia Pascual.

I also want to thank all of you for reading my posts, sharing them and to my subscribers (you will receive a special email soon ;)) I hope you all are enjoying my posts and the internationalisation guide!

I also want to let you know that the blog will have no activity until the 12th January 2016, with the next post. (I will go back home and need some holidays!) But, my subscribers will still receive the 4th chapter of the internationalisation guide the first Tuesday of January (5th of January), so if you want to keep receiving content from me during this Christmas season, go and subscribe!

And last but not least I just want to wish you Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! Enjoy the Christmas holidays; I am sure you all deserve it!

Thank you and see you next year! 🙂

New Year Proposals!

New Year Proposals!

Welcome to December!

First of all, huge THANKS to all of you who read and shared my last entry and to all of you who subscribed to my newsletter. I hope you are enjoying the blog and the internationalization guide.

We are closer to Christmas, the end of the year and the Christmas holidays! For me, starting a new year is starting from zero in some aspects. It helps me to change the things that I need to change, correct what I am doing wrong and start a whole new page.

So, today, although it may seem a bit early, I bring you the second to lasts post of the year! A year that is being exciting, unknown, overwhelming, motivating, hectic…I could spend days trying to define it.

About marketing and translation: 4 blogs to read

about marketing and translation (1)

Hello everyone!

One more Tuesday, here you have the new entry of Be Global Translations’ blog! I hope you enjoyed the last entry about the Language Show Live, an event for those language professionals and lovers. If you missed it, you can read it here.

Today’s post is about marketing and translation. As I said before and as most of you probably know, being a freelance translator is being an enterprise, a business, a company, whatever you may call it. And as a business, we all need to do some marketing activities to promote our services and ourselves.
